All Things New

Ruth is already asleep.

I just completed a revised budget that takes two major developments into account:
  1. We are expecting a baby!!
  2. We are buying a house!

Early yesterday morning we met our realtor, who is also a friend of ours, at his office to sign some paperwork.

He told us that a man from church - a friend of his and my parents - had died early that morning after a battle with cancer.

Mr. Wise, our realtor, had been up since 3:00 a.m. when he went to see the family.

A thought that occurred to me was: It is truly remarkable all the stages of life God brings us through.

Here we are, expecting a new little life to emerge from my wife in 9 months... and the Galloway's have just experienced the loss of a life.

How do we reconcile this apparent disparity in experience? We know God is sovereign, that's how.

If I didn't believe that, I would live in constant fear.

So I pray for two things tonight: peace, strength, and comfort for the Galloway's in their sorrow through their knowledge and experience of God's sovereign timing, and wisdom for Ruth and me to know how to best prepare for his unexpected gifts.
